This is one of the most common questions asked during consultation appointments. Cellulite is a condition in which the skin has a dimpled, lumpy appearance. It usually affects the buttocks and thighs, but can also occur in other areas. Cellulite occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin.<\/p>\n

Cellulite can affect both men and women, but it is more common in women, due to the different distributions of fat, muscle, and connective tissue. Around 80 percent of women may experience cellulite at some point in their lives.<\/p>\n

The exact cause of cellulite is unknown; it may be the result from an interaction between the connective tissue that lies below the surface of the skin, and the layer of fat that is just below it. Genetic factors along with diet and lifestyle can also affect the chance of cellulite developing.<\/p>\n
