I read in a medical journal that people are injecting product bought at a home improvement store stating it is silicone but used as dermal fillers<\/a>. True! One patient paid $1000 for each of four treatments after being injected in the buttocks and found herself in the hospital for 10 days. Silicone was found in her lung. In another incident, a woman was arrested after injecting tire repair liquid for buttock enhancement into another individual. All of the incidents reported were the result of poor judgment and bargain hunting by the person getting injected as well as illegalities by the injector.
\nAs mentioned before in this blog, look for value in dermal filler and cosmetic procedures. If you\u2019re having silicone (or Botox<\/a>, Juvederm<\/a>, Restylane<\/a>, Radiesse<\/a>) injected in someone\u2019s home, who knows where it came from or from what it is really made? Ask yourself if this is really worth the bargain basement price. Look instead for value.
\nMy advice is to go to someone you know and trust or someone who has been recommended by someone you trust. It doesn\u2019t need to be a plastic surgeon or dermatologist, but someone who has real experience. He or she needs to be licensed. People come to our office after seeing before and after results so they know what they are getting. If you are not sure, you can always ask to see the product before it is used.
